Shiang

Shiang begins in a disciplined city ruled by a young king and guarded by elite swordsmen, while a separate group travels across a harsh landscape on a mission tied to judgment, honor, and a traitor from the past. The opening unfolds through shifting viewpoints and introduces new characters and motives before the story threads start to connect.

As danger rises in both cities, magic stones, supernatural powers, and a mysterious afterlife-like realm become central to the conflict. Returning figures from the earlier book reappear alongside a mostly new cast, and the narrative gradually reveals how the two journeys and two cities are headed toward the same crisis.

The book builds toward a violent confrontation that brings the factions together and tests loyalties, power, and survival.
