More about this book

The Story

Binsa has long served as the living vessel of a goddess, dispensing mercy and punishment from the Scarlet Throne while hiding a dangerous truth: the goddess is not within her, and a demon is. As priests begin to question her place and prepare a replacement, Binsa grows more desperate to keep her power and her place in the world.

To maintain the illusion, Binsa turns further toward blood magic and bargains with the demon inside her, trading more of her humanity for strength and control. The pressure of politics, suspicion, prophecy, and her own past push her deeper into corruption as she schemes against priests, rivals, and anyone who might expose her.

The story remains tightly focused on Binsa’s perspective as she tries to hold onto authority in a religious system built around vessels, faith, and replacement. Her choices grow darker and the consequences grow harsher, leading toward a sequel-shaped ending that leaves her future uncertain and her descent still unfolding.
