The Story
Ray Electromatic is the last robot in existence, living in an alternate 1960s Los Angeles where he presents as a private detective while secretly working as a hired killer. His office is run by Ada, a supercomputer who manages clients, memory transfers, and the business side of the agency.
A mysterious woman arrives with gold and a request to find a missing movie star, drawing Ray into Hollywood glamour, secretive film-industry circles, and an investigation that keeps widening. As he follows the trail, Ray encounters spies, radiation, mind control, and other signs that the case is tied to something much larger than a simple disappearance.
Because Ray’s memory resets every 24 hours, he must rely on Ada to fill in what he’s lost, while the nature of their arrangement and his own past remain partly obscured. The story moves through a noir-style investigation toward a larger conspiracy, with the detective’s identity, purpose, and loyalties shaped by the limits of his robot body and the computer that directs him.
