More about this book

The Story

Lois Lane starts over in Metropolis at a new high school, determined to keep her head down, make friends, and avoid more trouble. That plan collapses almost immediately when she witnesses another student being bullied and realizes the adults in charge are not helping.

Her sharp instincts and reporter’s curiosity draw the attention of Perry White, who recruits her into a teen-run Daily Planet project. As Lois investigates the bullying, she finds a strange link to an immersive virtual-reality game and a group of unsettling classmates whose behavior seems increasingly controlled and in sync.

While Lois builds new friendships and digs deeper into the mystery, she also keeps up an online connection with a secretive boy she knows only by his screenname, SmallvilleGuy. The case grows larger and stranger as she pushes for the truth, balancing school life, reporting, and the risks of uncovering what is really happening to her classmates.
