The Story

This volume continues the year-long, weekly DC superhero saga after Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman have disappeared from the public stage. Multiple storylines run at once, including Booster Gold’s rising scrutiny, Lex Luthor’s super-power program, and a tense investigation involving The Question and Renee Montoya.

Other threads follow Black Adam, Isis, and the fallout around Kahndaq, while Ralph Dibny’s search becomes more mystical and complicated. In parallel, the space-faring thread with Animal Man, Starfire, Adam Strange, and Lobo pushes forward, and the Oolong Island / mad-science material expands the book’s weird side.

The volume keeps shifting between these arcs rather than resolving them cleanly, building a larger web of connections and revelations. The collected edition also includes commentary and script/extras between chapters, making the process and structure part of the reading experience.
