The Story
Finn Jarvis works at Oceanica, a marine park where merfolk are displayed as dangerous entertainment. He wants to prove himself as a trainer, but his assumptions about the mer are challenged when a newly captured mermaid, Erie, is assigned to him.
Erie is trapped in the park against her will, cut off from her ocean and surrounded by humans who treat her like an animal. As she studies the trainers and secretly learns their language, she begins to realize she may be able to change how Finn and the public see her people.
As Finn and Erie spend more time together, the balance between keeper and captive shifts. Their growing understanding of one another exposes the cruelty of the system holding the merfolk, and both must decide what they are willing to risk for freedom, loyalty, and survival.
