Dwellers

Two cousins with the ability to take over other people’s bodies flee their old lives and wake up in the lives of two brothers. A rule-bound existence is already precarious, and their new situation becomes worse when an injury leaves them stuck in the brothers’ house.

Inside the house, they begin to uncover troubling secrets about the brothers they’ve inhabited and discover a dead body hidden in the basement. As they try to keep themselves safe, the story opens into a second layer that reveals more about the cousins’ family, their powers, and the reasons they ran.

The book moves between mystery, backstory, and escalating consequences, with clues arriving in pieces. The deeper the characters dig into the dead body, their family history, and the lives they’ve stepped into, the more the story turns toward questions of identity, guilt, and what it costs to live inside someone else’s life.
