More about this book

The Story

Eliza is a geology-minded teen who knows the local swamp legends but gets dragged there anyway by her friends. When the ground gives way, she falls into a deep sinkhole and into a vast cave system far below the surface.

Underground, Eliza discovers a hidden colony of people who have survived in the caverns for years, along with strange glowing beings and dangerous creatures. As she tries to understand the place and her new companions, she also has to reckon with fear, trust, and whether she can find an exit.

The longer she stays, the more the underground world pulls people into its own logic, forcing Eliza and a small group of others to decide whether to remain or risk everything to leave. The story follows their attempt to navigate the caves, survive the threats around them, and get back to the surface.
