The Story
Naomi and Nathan are freelance journalists and lovers who usually connect from afar through phones, cameras, and airport hotels. She pursues a sensational murder in Paris involving a famous philosopher couple; he follows a medical assignment in Budapest that leads into strange surgery and disease.
As Naomi digs into the murdered philosopher’s life and Nathan tracks a rare syndrome and its origin, both reporters are drawn into increasingly disturbing circles of desire, bodily modification, and technological obsession. Their separate investigations move through multiple countries and intersect with philosophers, surgeons, students, patients, and shadowy political and media currents.
What begins as competing reportage becomes a broader puzzle about consumption, intimacy, and reality itself. The story keeps widening into conspiracy, leaving the characters and the reader to piece together how sex, medicine, media, and geopolitics are connected.
