More about this book

The Story

In a future Earth entering a galaxy-wide alliance, the powerful Remillard family sits at the center of human political and psychic life. A dangerous hidden force begins killing operants and Remillard kin, while the family’s secrecy, ambition, and internal rivalries make it hard to know whom to trust.

The narrative follows Rogi Remillard’s memoir-like account alongside other perspectives, building a layered mystery around the source of the attacks and the fate of the family. At the same time, a pregnancy that should not have happened produces a child with extraordinary mental potential and severe physical peril, making his survival a second, urgent thread of the story.

As deaths mount, political stakes rise and alien powers remain watchful over humanity’s place in the wider Milieu. The book moves toward revelations about the threat, the family’s role in it, and the significance of the child whose future may reshape humanity.
