The Story
Calliope Santiago awakens after a strange catastrophe to find most people missing and the world transformed into a dangerous, uncanny version of New Mexico. Pregnant with twins and desperate to find her family, she joins other survivors and travels through a landscape filled with violence, monsters, and shifting reality.
As the journey continues, Calliope confronts the stories, beliefs, and ancestral traditions she once dismissed. The strange events around her seem tied to Indigenous myths, geological forces, and questions about what is real, what is remembered, and what is inherited.
The group pushes toward answers and survival while the world keeps changing around them. Calliope must decide whether to trust science alone, or to accept that her family history and the old stories may be essential to understanding—and enduring—this new reality.
