Torchfire
In a fractured post-apocalyptic world, hunted youths, rival powers, and a new outsider POV push fragile peace toward collapse.

The Story
Torchfire picks up directly after the previous book, following several young characters as they navigate a world shaped by persecution, power struggles, and fragile alliances. Lark is on the run with her mother and allies, Nightingale is trapped and pressured to use her gift against her own people, Piper rises within a hostile hierarchy, and Rye keeps moving toward an uncertain future.
A new perspective, Petra, expands the world beyond the familiar factions and reveals another society with its own rules, prejudices, and political stakes. Her storyline introduces a different relationship to songlight and brings new information about how this wider world operates, while existing tensions continue to intensify across the other threads.
As the book progresses, the separate paths begin to connect through conflict, betrayal, shifting loyalties, and complicated relationships. The story builds toward larger revelations and harder choices, ending in a way that leaves major threads open for the final volume.
