Grey Haward lives under strict rules in a town controlled by the Chemists, who ration a life-sustaining potion and punish those who break their laws. After her best friend is brutally punished for protecting her, Grey is forced to take risks and draws the Chemists’ attention, revealing that her family has a dangerous secret of its own.

Seeking refuge in her grandfather’s shop, Grey touches an old curio cabinet and is pulled into a second world filled with porcelain and clockwork people. There she is given a mysterious task: find someone and bring him back, while also trying to understand the strange society she has entered and how it connects to the world she left behind.

As events unfold in both worlds, Grey and the people around her confront power struggles, hidden histories, and growing rebellion. Grey must figure out who she is, what her family really is, and whether she can help save the friend she left behind while challenging the forces that rule both places.
