Darkness

Kat is sent undercover to Homeland by her boss, who wants her to find information on the New Species and locate a man connected to his private agenda. Kat plans to keep her own counsel, but her arrival goes badly wrong when she helps stop an attack at the gates and immediately draws suspicion.

Darkness is the New Species male assigned to interrogate her. He is powerful, controlled, and deeply damaged by his past, and he does not trust her story. Kat is tough, resourceful, and not easily intimidated, which makes her stand out to him even as he tries to keep her at a distance.

As the two circle each other, attraction becomes entangled with secrecy, domination, and resistance. The relationship develops alongside outside threats, family revelations, and pressure from the larger Homeland world, with the central question becoming whether Darkness can trust Kat and whether Kat can break through his walls.
