The Story
Dahlia lives a controlled life as a Lace Girl, trained to comfort men and serve a assigned purpose in a harsh dystopian society. When her best friend dies after childbirth, Dahlia is left responsible for the baby and is forced to flee into the dangerous world beyond her protected role.
To survive, Dahlia must trust Lagos, a towering, gruff, deeply damaged rogue who barely speaks and seems built for violence. As they travel together, she learns more about the world outside the Cradle, while their uneasy alliance turns into attraction, obsession, and a fraught connection neither expected.
Their journey is shaped by pursuit, danger, and emotional pressure, with other would-be protectors and rivals complicating matters. Dahlia must protect the baby and decide what kind of future she wants, while Lagos confronts the possibility of tenderness, trust, and love in a world that taught him to be a weapon.
