Fray

Set hundreds of years in the future, the story follows Melaka Fray, a streetwise thief living in a dangerous Manhattan where poverty, mutants, cops, and monsters all crowd the same broken streets. She thinks she has no future of her own until a demon guide tells her she is a Slayer, chosen to fight the rising vampire and demon threat.

As Melaka is pulled into her role, she has to deal with powers, training, and the strange remnants of Slayer history in a world that has largely forgotten it. Her path is complicated by her family situation, especially a strained relationship with her sister and the shadow of her dead twin brother.

The plot builds toward a confrontation involving hidden motives, shifting allegiances, and a larger demonic plan. Melaka’s growth as a hero is tied to loss, hard choices, and the decision to protect people even when she never wanted the role in the first place.
