More about this book

The Story

Mallory is an orphan living in a harsh near-future society where corporations control basic necessities and water is scarce and expensive. To survive, she juggles multiple jobs and streams a popular VR war game, where watching the in-game SpecOps operatives is one of the biggest draws.

A chance encounter in the game leads Mal and her best friend Jessa into a sponsorship offer and a deeper investigation. As they dig, they uncover a horrifying truth about the celebrated super-soldiers and the corporations that own their world, pulling them from virtual competition into real-world danger.

What begins as gaming and survival becomes a struggle over truth, control, and resistance. Mal must decide how far she’ll go to expose the lie, knowing that speaking out could cost her water, livelihood, safety, and the fragile life she has built with the people around her.
