More about this book

The Story

Years ago, two young programmers worked in isolation near a crumbling family mansion to build a revolutionary system that could change their lives. Their friendship collapsed amid jealousy, love, and a third partner’s disappearance, leaving one man rich and famous and the other broke, damaged, and trying to survive.

Years later, the wealthy partner summons the other back to the renovated mansion to help fix Nellie, an advanced home-control program embedded throughout the house. What begins as a technical rescue soon becomes a tense stay in an isolated, winter-bound property, where the house’s history, the program’s behavior, and the men’s unresolved past all start to overlap.

As accidents and deaths mount, the characters are forced to confront whether Nellie is malfunctioning, haunted, or something in between. The story builds through memories, secrets, and escalating unease toward a late confrontation over the source of the mansion’s danger and the old wounds that still drive everyone inside it.
