Deception

After the destruction of Baalboden, Logan is pushed into leadership of the surviving group while Rachel struggles with grief, guilt, and a growing need for revenge. They set out into the Wasteland with the hope of finding safety and an ally in another city-state, but their journey is shadowed by the Commander’s pursuit and the danger posed by the device that controls the Cursed One.

As the survivors travel, attacks keep coming from outside the group and sabotage begins from within it. The changing threat forces Logan to make hard decisions for the people depending on him, while Rachel’s emotional state grows more unstable and puts strain on her relationship with Logan. The group must figure out who they can trust before more people are killed.

The narrative builds around pursuit, mistrust, and worsening pressure as the group tries to outrun enemies, protect each other, and keep moving toward refuge. The story also follows Rachel and Logan’s shifting bond as they struggle to hold onto each other under trauma and responsibility. The book ends with major revelations and a setup for the next installment.
