The Story
Yolanda Cicerón is twelve and desperate to change her future. She lives with her older sister on a struggling farm in a harsh, climate-altered valley, and she wants education, technology, and a place in the advanced town of Silo.
When a scholarship offer comes with hidden strings, Yolanda starts uncovering what Silo is really doing to the valley and the people in it. As she digs into family secrets and her grandmother’s notes, she learns that bees may be tied to more than farming—they may be tied to survival itself.
Yolanda and the people closest to her are pushed toward resistance against corrupt power, surveillance, and exploitation. The story builds toward a high-stakes confrontation over control of resources, the future of the valley, and whether the last beehive can help restore what has been lost.
