More about this book

The Story

Cinderella lives on a planetoid and dreams of fixing fancy rockets instead of becoming a bride. While her stepfamily keeps her busy with household repairs, she studies mechanics at night and hopes for a life among ships and stars.

When the royal space parade and ball arrive, a fairy godrobot helps Cinderella attend with the tools she needs. She repairs her own ship and later fixes the prince's broken spaceship, impressing him with her mechanical skill before midnight sends her racing home.

The prince searches for the girl who can repair his ship, and when he finds her, the ending shifts from a marriage promise to a work partnership. Cinderella chooses to be his mechanic rather than his wife, giving the tale an independent, nontraditional finish.
